Evangeline then, Evangeline now
On June 24th, 2009, we stood in a court room in Ukraine before a judge, and were granted the legal request of making Evangeline our daughter.
Two years ago, today.
Where does the time go?
The last two years have been up and down. Sometimes, Evangeline feels like the very fiber of my being, and other days, I still wonder if her mom will show up to take her home.
But I love her. God is teaching me so much about myself, and about him, through her.
She is a precious child. Worthwhile, valuable, purposeful.
Thank you, Lord, for bringing her to us.

TWO YEARS?!? I can't believe it's been that long. I have LOVED the refreshing honesty you have shared about becoming her mom in every sense. As a future adoptive mom, I really needed to know that not every adopted child with Ds moves seamlessly into the homes and hearts of their new family. Your story has helped me better know what to expect...and how to pray.
ReplyDeleteShe is just gorgeous, btw! What a cutie!
Tara, thanks for your sweet comment. You made me cry! Us moms need to stick together :).
ReplyDeleteBlessings on your journey.
Hi Savannah! Thanks, you are so sweet. Heading over to check out your diggs now :).
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how fast the time has gone! She has changed so much in the past 2 years:)
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! My husband and I are just starting the process of adopting a RR little girl from Russia. Your family is precious!
ReplyDeleteGillian, I remember reading your adventure with Evangeline. I look at her eyes and I see such life since her time with you. Oh how her very face is a picture of the wholeness being a part of an earthly family (and a heavenly family) will bring. Thank you for all you have shared.
