First day of school!

Evangeline had her first day of school today! She was excited to go out (we've been home a lot over Christmas). Of course, Polly and Lainie and Zoya were more excited than Evie about school but she was game to go along in the van.

Once she got to her classroom, though, Evie was excited! I hung out with her there for about an hour. Thankfully, the OT was in the classroom for the morning and helped Evie get situated.
I left her in her class for an hour and when I returned to pick her up the teacher said she had cried a bit (which is a good sign for bonding, right?)but that overall she did well. Evie was happy to see me (another good sign...I was worried she wouldn't want me). We came home, had lunch and she initiated a few hugs (WOW). Now she's taking a nap.

I'm pleased...we'll see how tomorrow goes.

  6. Hi Gillian! Bella started today too. I decided to let her go on the bus with Grace. (to a different school though) I was told she was very quiet but warmed up to the idea towards the end. Evie is so cute! I am so happy she gave her Mama some hugs today!

    Love, Paula

  8. What a great start! I remember when our son with ds started preschool-the early intervention was 1/2 day two or three days a week, starting at 18 months. He was so tiny! But it was great for him because they did pt, ot, speech therapy and even taught him some independence.
